Percy Jackson And The Olympians has released the trailer for its second season, and hopes remain high that it will be as action-packed as the previous season. Season two will cover the second book in the series, The Sea Of Monsters. Watch the trailer below.
The series follows adolescent demigods, born to one human parent and one Greek god. Our main character is Percy Jackson, named for the hero of mythology Perseus. Like Perseus, Jackson is also a son of Poseidon. Rounding out our main trio is Annabeth, a daughter of Athena, and Grover, a half-goat, half-human known as a Satyr.
In the first season, Percy finds out about his godly origins and makes his way to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp intended to protect demigods from monsters. Eventually, Percy and his friends are recruited on a quest to recover Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt, a journey they must undertake in order to prevent war on Olympus.
In season two, both Grover and The Camp come under threat, and our heroes must travel to the Sea of Monsters. The trailer shows former ally and friend, Luke, poisoning the tree that protects the camp. Tyson, Percy’s cyclops brother, will be a new addition to the team.
According to mxdwn, the series is based on a series of the same name by Rick Riordan (Kane Chronicles The 39 Clues). After a disappointing movie series that failed to reach the third book, the first season has been largely successful, scoring 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the series has become one of Disney+’s most-watched originals. Fans of the series can rejoice as the third book will be making it to the screen, as it is already in production.
According to IMDB, the series stars Walker Scobel (The Adam Project, Secret Headquaters) Leah Sava’ Jefferies (Rel, Beast), Aryan Simhadari (Freaky Friday, Cheaper By The Dozen, and Virginia Kull (Big Little Lies, Boardwalk Empire). Percy Jackson And The Olympians was created by Riordan and Jonathon E. Steinberg (The Old Man, Jericho).
