

HBO has officially dropped the chilling first teaser for its highly anticipated drama series, IT: Welcome to Derry. According to mxdwn a post, the series will return to the setting of Derry, Maine and focus on a string of missing kid cases. The teaser opens up with a young kid walking alone on a snowy road until a couple pulls over to help him get back home, which he replies, “anywhere, but Derry.” The series will take place 27 years prior to the events within the 2017 remake version.
According to mxdwn, the series will delve into the dark past into the infamous dancing clown, Pennywise, played by Bill Skarsgård (The Crow, Boy Kills World). The current casting of the thriller series will consists of Jovan Adepo (Overlord, The Stand), Taylour Paige (Brother, The Trainer), James Remar (Megalopolis, Dexter) and Kimberly Guerrero (Dogman, Spirit Rangers). The story will follow a new group that will try to solve the mystery behind the disappearance within Derry, and be confronted with Pennywise.
The teaser also offers a glimpse of Pennywise’s iconic calling card, targeting his victims by holding a bright red balloon in front of his face. We also see more of Pennywise using his ability to manifest his victims’ worst fears into reality.
While plot details remain shrouded in mystery, the teaser offers a glimpse of a new ensemble of young characters, hinting at the next generation of Derry’s unfortunate inhabitants. The series was created by Andy Muschietti (The Flash) and Barbara Muschietti (The Electric State), who previously collaborated on the 2017 version of It and the sequel. They have effectively conveyed horror in their films and continue to do so in the upcoming series.
It: Welcome to Derry does not have a specific release date, but it is expected to premiere on Max sometime this fall.
