Peep Show, a popular comedy series from the UK that premiered in 2003 and ran for nine seasons, is making a comeback. According to Deadline, Minnie Driver (Circle of Friends, The Riches) and Amandla Jahava (DMZ, Yuka) have been cast as the leads in this FX reboot series.
Peep Show is a series that explores the dynamics between an overworked assistant played by Jahava, and her boss, Driver, who is an emotionally unstable tech entrepreneur. While the original UK version featured male leads played by David Mitchell (That Mitchell and Webb Look, The Outsiders) and Robert Webb (Back, That Mitchell and Webb Look), the American version puts a fresh spin on the dynamic by casting female actors in the lead roles.
In all the excitement Driver took to her Instagram page to report the news:
According to Variety, the pilot of this UK reboot series was originally commissioned at FX in December of 2022.
Peep Show is written and produced by Stefani Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows, Atlanta), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Vulture reported that Robinson is making his fifth attempt to create an American adaptation of the British television show Peep Show, following unsuccessful attempts by Spike TV, Starz, Fox, and a previous effort at FX led by Community writer Karey Dornetto (Portlandia, Arrested Development).
Also serving as executive producers are Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop, Peep Show), Dianne McGunigle (Atlanta, Cop Car), and Sam Bain (Four Lions, Peep Show). Ben Farrell (Witless, Eric, Ernie and Me) and Hannah Mackay (Fresh Meat, Peep Show), who both produced the original series, will also be serving as executive producers. Yana Gorskaya (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows) will be directing and executive producing the pilot.
Stay tuned for more details on the pilot of the upcoming series Peep Show on FX.
