Peacock’s ‘Those About To Die’ Showcases A Behind-The-Scenes Look At Its Circus Maximus During San Diego Comic-Con

According to Variety, with vast number of stars, Peacock’s new historical epic series, Those About to Die, brought out a gladiator flare during their San Diego Comic-Con panel. Executive producer and director Roland Emmerich (Moonfall, Stargate Universe) was joined side by side by stars Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, The Dirt), Sara Martins (Death in Paradise, Little White Lies), Moe Hashim (Ted Lasso, Made in Hollywood), Jojo Macari (Sex Education, Master of the Air), Dimitri Leonidas (The Monuments Men, The One) and Gabriella Pession (Crossing Lines, The Red Door). They gave the audience an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the making of the series.

Those About to Die is set in a corrupted world that drives on the spectacle of gladiator chariot races. The series takes place during ancient Roman times and shows the audience a side that has never before been told.

In a brand new featurette, Emmerich stated that the series was the right move for him. He said, “I was always fascinated by He said “I was always fascinated by the Roman empire, and I always wanted to do something with sports. So this was a dream to tell this story.”

Rheon added, “We’ve had these amazing practical sets like the underbelly and the Coliseum. They’re the best sets I’ve ever worked on.”

As per Variety, the series also took from the panel onto the San Diego streets for a real-life chariot race for fans to see. The special event allowed fans to step inside the betting tavern, join one of the coveted factions and experience the adrenaline thrill of the race.When they entered, guests were divided into five different factions from the show and given a chance to whip a pair of reins to power their team’s chariot to victory in a Gaslamp District event called “Circus Maximus.

All 10 episodes of Those About to Die are available to stream on Peacock.
