Peacock’s ‘John Wick’ Prequel Series ‘The Continental’ Sets Premiere Date

According to Deadline, Peacock has officially set the premiere date for their three-part John Wick prequel series, The Continental. The series will air on Peacock September 22 with the first episode titled “Night One”; episode two will air on September 29 and the final episode will air on October 6.

The Continental explores the origins of the iconic hotel-for-assassins and stars Colin Woodell (The Originals, The Flight Attendant) as a young Winston Scott, the hotel manager of The Continental. Young Winston must face the past he thought he had left behind as he is dragged into 1970’s New York City. He moves through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in an attempt to seize the hotel where he will take his future throne.

Along with Woodell, the series stars Hubert Point-Du Jour (City on a Hill, The Good Lord Bird) as Miles, Nhung Kate (Better Man, The Housemaid) as Yen, Ayomide Adegun (The Continental, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as young Charon, Mishel Prada (Gigi & Nate, Let’s Get Married) as KD, Peter Greene (The Mask, Pulp Fiction) as Uncle Charlie, Jessica Allain (The Laundromat, The Honor List) as Lou, Mel Gibson (Signs, Braveheart) as Cormac, and Ben Robson (Vikings, Animal Kingdom) as Frankie.

The news of the premiere date came from San Diego Comic-Con, where the audience was shown exclusive in-room footage from The Continental, according to Deadline. Executive producer and director Albert Hughes (The Book of Eli, Alpha), production designer Drew Boughton (The Man in the High Castle, Hemlock Grove), executive producer Marshall Persinger (Still Breathing, Cherry Falls), editor Ron Rosen (Godzilla, Geostorm), and the creative team including action director Larnell Stovall (The Other Guys, The Hunger Games) were featured on a panel about the series.

The Continental was co-created by Shawn Simmons (Wayne, Eenie Meanie), Greg Coolidge (Ride Along, The Troop), and Kirk Ward (The Island, Skyward). Ward and Coolidge serve as showrunners and writers as well as executive produce with Simmons, Hughes, Persinger, Chad Stahelski (John Wick, Day Shift), David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train), Basil Iwanyk (Sicario, Ballerina), Rhett Reese (Deadpool, Zombieland), Erica Lee (John Wick, The Informer), Derek Kolstad (Nobody, John Wick), and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Life). Hughes directs the first and third episodes and Charlotte Brandstrom (Sweet Revenge, A Business Affair) directs the second episode.
