According to TVLine, the Peacock drama series Bel-Air has an official premiere date for its third installment. The new season, which will stream episodes weekly, is scheduled to premiere this summer on Thursday, August 15th, on the streamer.
Bel-Air is a reimagined version of the popular 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In the same style as the original, Bel-Air follows the life of the character of Will Smith as he goes from Philly to Bel Air to live with his relatives, the Banks. Will now has to navigate a new environment and rules while also trying to get along with his family. The series has a more dramatic and action-packed tone compared to the original sitcom.
Below is a video posted by the streamer showcasing the cast promoting the new season.
According to TVLine, the official synopsis for the third season reads: “Being a part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective — it isn’t just about wealth, it means that Will now has options to lean into other things that excite him and has the privilege to dream bigger.”
In the new season of Bel-Air, Will partners us with his cousin, Carlton. TVLine continues the synopsis by saying, “And while the dynamic duo has a lot of exciting wins, working together also reveals fundamental differences in their backgrounds and worldviews. Can a partnership of such extremes work?”
The cast for the series includes Jabari Banks (Bad Genius) as Will Smith, Cassandra Freeman (Luke Cage) as Vivian Banks, Adrian Holmes (Skyscraper) as Philip Banks, Olly Sholotan (Run Hide Fight) as Carlton Banks, Akira Akbar (We Can Be Heroes) as Ashley Banks, Coco Jones (Five Points) as Hilary Banks and Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey Thompson (In the Long Run).
Showrunner and writer Carla Banks Waddles (Half & Half) executive produces the new season alongside director Morgan Cooper (U Shoot Video?).
