According to Deadline, Peacock has just renewed the musical comedy spin-off series, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin for a second season. The decision to renew the series comes as no surprise considering that the first season (which debuted back in November of 2022) managed to score the biggest comedy premiere in Peacock history.
As written by Deadline, Bumper in Berlin was watched by more accounts in its launch weekend than any other Peacock original comedy series to date, even surpassing Craig Robinson’s (The Office, The Bad Guys) Killing It, Peacock’s prior first place comedy debut. When asked about the success of NBC’s latest comedy series, Susan Rovner, Chairman of Entertainment Content at NBC Universal Television and Streaming, stated, “We knew fans of the Pitch Perfect franchise were going to sing the praises of Bumper in Berlin and enjoy seeing a new side of Adam DeVine’s character…we can’t wait to dive further into this new hit with Peacock audiences.”
Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin follows the story of Bumper Allen, played by Adam DeVine (Workaholics, Modern Family), a recurring character and former antagonist in the original Pitch Perfect trilogy who moves to Germany in order to revive his faulty music career after one of his songs becomes big in Berlin. The series also stars such acting talents as Sarah Hyland (Modern Family, XOXO), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), and Flula Borg (The Suicide Squad, Luck).
In a joint statement, executive producers Elizabeth Banks (the Hunger Games franchise, Charlie’s Angels) and Max Handelman (Cocaine Bear, The Most Hated Woman in America) said, “We are thrilled that audiences continue to enjoy the Pitch Perfect universe with Bumper in Berlin on Peacock. We look forward to even more hilarity and relentless mouth music in season 2.”
So far, Peacock has yet to confirm a release date for season two of Bumper in Berlin.
