According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock has renewed drama series Bel-Air for its fourth and final season. The series which takes a dramatic twist to the 1990s NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air gets renewed three months fate the conclusion of its third season.
Bel-Air follows the journey of a street-smart teenager named Will whose life is forever transformed when he moves from the streets of West Philadelphia to live with his rich Aunt, Uncle and Cousins.
The third season of the series followed Will and his cousin Carlton becoming closer as Carlton looked to put his life of addiction behind him and rebuild his reputation.
The series stars Jabari Banks (Bad Genius) as Will, Cassandra Freeman (Luke Cage) and Vivian, Jimmy Akingbola (The Tower) as Geoffrey, Olly Sholotan (Run Hide Fight) and Carlton, Coco Jones (Five Points) as Hilary, Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) as Ashley, Adrian Holmes (Chained) as Philip and many more.
“I think the most rewarding thing has been watching people be on the journey with us and start from this position of skepticism and ‘I don’t know about this,’ to watching it,” showrunner Carla Banks Waddles (Good Girls) told The Hollywood Reporter midway through season three. “And then seeing them be on the journey of hating Carlton at first, like, ‘What the heck have they done with Carlton?’ to really him being a beloved character and people rooting for him, understanding him, wanting the best for him. And he and Will and their dynamic duo together, just watching Will in this new space being this fish out of water in a very different, more dramatic way, that’s been fun.”.
Banks Waddles serves as a writer on the series and executive produces alongside Morgan Cooper (U Shoot Video?), Will Smith (I Am Legend), Terence Carter (This Joka), James Lassiter (Seven Pounds), Miguel Melendez (Hawthrone), Benny Medina (Atlas), Quincy Jones (The Color Purple), Andy (Pleasantville) and Susan Borowitz (Out All Night).
Bel-Air is available to stream on Peacock.
