An official trailer for the upcoming mystery series Poker Face has been released by Peacock. The show will be centered around its protagonist, Charlie Cale, played by Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black, Russian Doll).
According to Deadline, “Charlie has an uncanny ability to tell when people are lying [and] shows off that preternatural ability by using it to solve crimes. Among those crimes is a mysterious murder involving a host of characters, including Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Free Guy) as a town sheriff who insists there was no foul play… After someone seeks her out to use her abilities (likely for nefarious purposes), Charlie goes on the run — but she continues to solve crimes along the way.”
Academy Award nominee Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) serves as the showrunner, writer, and director of the show. He also executive produces, joined by Lyonne, Ram Bergman (Looper, Brick), and Nena Rodrigue (The Three-Body Problem, Lost & Found). Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, known for their work on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Haven, and Prodigal Son, are also executive producing and co-showrunning. Four-time Emmy Award winner Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, The Way Way Back) and Emmy Award nominee Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Night Comes On, Columbus) are also reported to be executive producing.
Among the cast are David Castañeda (Umbrella Academy, Sicario: Day of the Soldado), Hong Chau (Downsizing, Watchmen), Luis Guzmán (Traffic, Wednesday), Cherry Jones (The Village, Signs), Reed Birney (Mass, The Hunt), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, Don Jon), and Stephanie Hsu (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Path), along with Megan Suri (Never Have I Ever, Atypical), Colton Ryan (Uncle Frank, Dear Evan Hansen), Brandon Micheal Hall (God Friended Me, Search Party), and Scott Vogel (Hustle, Knock at the Cabin).
