The Hollywood Reporter has reported that this past Sunday Peacock gave us a glimpse into the world of espionage with their new spy thriller. Simu Liu (Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Barbie) and Melissa Barea (In The Heights, Scream) stand back to back against deceit and other foes in The Copenhagen Test.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Liu plays Alexander Hale, the son of Chinese immigrants who works as intelligence analyst. Things go awry when he discovers someone has hacked his brain so that they can observe his every move.
Via The Hollywood Reporter, Hale will try to uncover the mystery of who his behind the hacking. Allegiances will be test as Hale utters “I don’t know who I can trust anymore,”.Barea will play his love interest, but she appears to not just be a romantic plot point. She throws a flurry of fists and feet in the trailer. Hale must attempt to keep up appearances in order to not tip off the mysterious figures behind the subterfuge within his mind. His discovery could have deadly consequences as the trailer tells us “If they suspect you’re compromised, you’re dead,”. All the while he must prove that he isn’t guilty of treason.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that The Copenhagen Test will be available to watch on Peacock just after the Christmas holiday on December 27th. The trailer was released simultaneously with a panel where Liu was in attendance.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Copenhagen Test was created by Thomas Brandon (Arts Therapy, Legacy). He will showrun, write, and executive produce alongside his wife, Jennifer Yale (Your Friends And Neighbors, See). Additional executive producers include Liu, Rob Hackett (True Haunting, The Magic Order), Michael Clear (True Haunting, The Conjuring: Last Rites), James Wan (Insidious, Saw), Mark Winemaker (The Great, The Dark Tower) and Jet Wilkinson (The OId Man, Percy Jackson And The Olympians).
