PBS Announces Fall Schedule

PBS released the fall primetime lineup that includes a new seven-part series, new series and returning favorite series.

A new seven-part series from Ken Burn’s will kick off PBS’ fall season with The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. The seven-night event will be 14-hours and will air nightly at 8 p.m. from Sunday, September 14 through Saturday, September 20. It will center on weaving the stories of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, a first for television.

Other new series coming to PBS include How We Got to Know, this is a new Think Wednesday series. American science author and media theorist Steven Johnson will host it. They will also present a new documentary The Pilgrims: American Experience. The fall will bring the second season of the popular series Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Makers. There will be expanded entries from the PBS Arts Fall Festival including Live From Lincoln Center’s Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson and Bryn Terfel, and The Nance starring Nathan Lane.

A more detailed fall schedule is below but viewers can expect new Masterpiece, Antiques Roadshow, Independent Lens, American Masters, POV, Nature, Nova, Austin City Limits, Great Performances, Washington Week with Gwen Ifill, and Charlie Rose – The Week.
