The Hollywood Reporter brought shocking news for the CBS show: this member of the original cast is leaving at the end of the season.
The actor played Captain Jim Brass throughout the existing 14 seasons of the show. He was, with George Eads, one of the only two regular cast members who had been on the procedural series since its beginning, so many years ago.
Although it is not confirmed yet, his leave seemed to be decided by the show’s producers, who want to put an end to the character’s storyline and move on to fresh characters and other stories.
The actor was only informed last week and is said to have given “an emotional farewell speech” to his castmates.
He has appeared, up until now, in 312 episodes of the show, which means he was only left out in a small number of them.
Guilfoyle’s last episode will be the 14th season’s finale, which is set to air on May 7.
