According to Deadline, Paul Calderón (Fear the Walking Dead, Pulp Fiction) has joined Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Ironheart in an undisclosed role. Marvel reps declined to comment.
Ironheart will also feature Dominique Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah, If Beale Street Could Talk), starring as Riri Williams, a prodigy inventor, and creator of the most progressive suit of armor since Iron Man. Ironheart will also feature previously announced actors Manny Montana (Good Girls, Undrafted), Zoe Terakes (Nine Perfect Strangers, Wentworth), Shakira Barrera (Shameless, Far Cry 6), Shea Couleé (Lipstick City, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars), Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola (South Side, Insecure), Regan Aliyah (BF for Hire, How to Catch Ghost), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beautiful Creatures), and Anthony Ramos (A Star Is Born, Honest Thief).
Calderón is a writer, actor, and director. Calderón has produced The Strike, executive produced Grand Slammed, and co-produced Dancing with the Spirits, a documentary that is currently in post-production.
MCU’s Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a 15-year-old prodigy attending MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), who builds a suit based on Iron Man’s armor and also takes up the name Ironheart. Ironheart’s character has appeared in some Marvel animated series including Spider-Man: Maximum Venom and Marvel Rising, according to Disney Plus Informer.
Ironheart was created by Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer, Amazing Stories) and is the eleventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that is produced by Marvel Studios. Hodge serves as the head writer in this Marvel series. Ironheart is also executive produced by Hodge, along with Kevin Feige (Black Panther, Guardian of the Galaxy), Victoria Alonso (Avengers: End Game, Iron Man), Sev Ohanian (Fruitvale Station, Judas and the Black Messiah), Zinzi Coogler (Judas and the Black Messiah, Creed), Zoie Nagelhout (Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War), and Brad Winderbaum (Ant-Man, Thor: Ragnarok). Angela Barnes (Atlanta, Teenage Bounty Hunters) and Sam Bailey (Dear White People, Brown Girls) are on board as directors.
The filming is currently in production, taking place in Chicago. Ironheart will have a six-episode debut and will be coming to Disney+ in the fall of 2023.
