According to an article via Deadline, actors Patrick Walker (Lessons in Chemistry, Gaslit) and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ted) have been elevated to series regulars on FOX’s medical drama Doc, set to return for season two. The promotion follows a strong freshman season, where the series grew its audience and secured a full 22-episode renewal.
Doc, based on the hit Italian series Doc — Nelle tue mani, stars Molly Parker (Deadwood, House of Cards) as Dr. Amy Larsen, a once-renowned physician rebuilding her life and career after a traumatic car crash wipes out eight years of her memory. Set in Westside Hospital, the series follows her journey of redemption and rediscovery.
Walker portrays Dr. TJ Coleman, a first-year resident and military veteran whose path to medicine was inspired by Amy. Deadline describes his character as “smart, kind, strong, and charismatic,” with deep ties to Amy’s past and present. As she rehabilitates, he’s by her side each step of the way.
Fountain-Jardim plays Katie Hamda, Amy’s estranged daughter, now working to repair their relationship after years of distance. Deadline states Katie is thoughtful, empathetic, and determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a doctor.
Walker’s promotion comes as he wraps several notable roles, including a part opposite Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (Liz Here Now, Origin) in Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry, via Deadline. He also appeared in Netflix’s The Vince Staples Show and starred in Gaslit on Starz.
According to Deadline, Fountain-Jardim, originally from Westfield, NJ, is a Rutgers alumna who debuted in the horror feature Natty Knocks. Following that, she earned credits in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Peacock’s Ted, further establishing her as a rising talent in television.
The series, created by Barbie Kligman (Magnum P.I., Secrets and Lies) and co-showrun with Hank Steinberg (The Nine, The Last Ship), is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios. Deadline lists executive producers include Erwin Stoff (Julia, The Serpent Queen), Russell Fine (Jericho, UnREAL), Carol Barbee (House, New Amsterdam), and David Foster (House, Do No Harm), among others.
Doc concluded its first season with a 9% increase in total live + same-day viewership from its premiere, drawing 2.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
As Doc heads into season two, Walker and Fountain-Jardim’s expanded roles promise to deepen the emotional and medical narratives that captivated audiences in Season one. Their character arcs will likely intersect more closely with Dr. Larsen’s ongoing recovery and professional resurgence.
