Sky Italia original drama Devils, starring Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy), was picked up by the CW. The network is working to acquire other international shows for the fall TV season, according to Deadline.
Based on the novel under the same name by Guido Maria Brera, the 10-part series is set in the London office of a major U.S. bank. Dempsey will play Dominic Morgan, the bank’s CEO, and will follow the financial turbulence of inviting the Italian head of trading Massimo Ruggero, played by Alessandro Borghi (On My Skin), into his business. Throughout the series, Ruggero ends up involved in a cross-continent finance war, leaving him with two options: to befriend his mentor Morgan or to fight him. The book took inspiration from the financial crises of the 2008 global markets, via Deadline.
Devils will also have Laia Costa (Victoria), Lars Mikkelsen (The Killing), Malachi Kirby (Roots), Paul Chowdhry (Swinging with the Finkels), Pia Mechler (Everything Is Wonderful), Harry Michell (Chubby Funny) and Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049) in the cast.
Devils will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and will be followed by the investigative drama Coroner, which previously held the 8 p.m. slot. Dead Pixels, the British comedy, has been moved to the CW’s summer schedule while the horror anthology Two Sentence Horror Stories will air Sunday nights in the fall, via Deadline.
While the official fall air date of Devils to the network is not finalized, the official trailer can be seen below.
