Paramount+ has released the trailer for its upcoming series starring two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (Avengers) titled Mayor of Kingstown, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The crime series features Renner as Mike McLusky, the mayor of a fictional Michicagn town, where danger, inequality, and corruption flourish because incarceration is the only thriving industry.
The Mayor of Kingstown also stars Dianne Wiest (I Care A Lot) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), who play the remainder of the McLusky clan. The show’s logline states, “While tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither,” via The Hollywood Reporter.
Both Paramount series Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone serve as prequels to 1883, which will premiere on the platform on December 19. Mayor of Kingstown, with 10 episodes, will premiere on Paramount+ on November 14. The show will be the first of two series starring Renner to launch in November, alongside Marvel and Disney+’s Hawkeye, which will premiere on November 24.
