Paramount+’s prequel series to Yellowstone, titled 1883, released its first official trailer Friday, according to Variety. 1883, set to premiere on December 19, follows the Dutton family and their journey west through the Great Plains towards Montana, seeking a better future out of poverty.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family in the present day, now ranchers; the series specifically centers around a the sixth-generation homesteader and patriarch of the family, John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves). The streamer premiered the show’s fourth season at the beginning of November.
According to the trailer, 1883 will offer just as much, if not more, action as its predecessor. Clips are shown throughout the trailer of chaos ensuing in the form of shootouts, arson, and duels involving horses and bows and arrows.
1883 stars Tim McGraw (The Blind Side), Faith Hill (The Stepford Wives), Sam Elliot (Road House), Isabel May (Alexa & Kate), and Billy Bob Thornton (Goliath). The trailer can be watched below, and the series will debut on Paramount+ on December 19.
