Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead for over a decade, and just returned for The Ones Who Live, has his first TV leading role since. According to ScreenRant, Lincoln is moving away from Rick for a few months to star in his own show with Paramount+, an upcoming thriller called Coldwater.

According to ScreenRant, Lincoln filmed the six-hour series with ITV in 2025. Lincoln stars as John, who moves his family to a Scottish village after a violent incident in London. Once they move, John and his wife Fiona, played by Indira Varma (Silent hours, Rome), become friends with their neighbors Tommy (Ewen Bremner Creation Stories, Perfect Sense) and Rebecca (Eve Myles The Hack, The Guest). Throughout each of the six episodes, John and Fiona learn more and more about their friends, with each reveal darker than the last. Soon, more secrets lay bare within their neighborhood. The series deals with heavy themes, including domestic violence.
Despite this being his first leading role in over a decade, ScreenRant reports that Lincoln could still return to The Walking Dead in the future, even after his dramatic exit on The Walking Dead. According to sources via Undead Walking, a possible reunion spinoff series could happen, reuniting the characters of the original show and its spinoffs, Daryl Dixon and Dead City. Daryl Dixon ended its third season last fall, with a final fourth season on the horizon. It follows Norman Reedus’ (The Boondock Saints, American Gangster) Daryl in Paris battling his way back to the States. Dead City follows characters Maggie and Negan in a rare alliance to rescue Maggie’s kidnapped son. It concluded its second season last year, with a third currently in production.
