In the third season of School Spirits, Peyton List (Jessie, Bunk’d) will explore a new mystery on Paramount+, according to The Hollywood Reporter. During the show’s panel in São Paulo, Brazil, it was revealed that the series will launch with a three-episode premiere on January 28th.
Raw footage was shown throughout this event, CCXP, by List via The Hollywood Reporter. “Now she’s back in her body and trying to pick up the pieces of her life,” List explained regarding her character, Maddie Nears, for the new episodes. “Her best friend is trapped, and she’s trying to get him out.”
The Hollywood Reporter says a big obstacle List’s character faces is knowing whether Maddie prefers the living or the dead. “She’s fallen completely in love with these [deceased] characters, so it’s really hard for her to choose.”
The new season sees Maddie (List) taking on the role of a protector for the school’s inhabitants, both spectral and alive, all while being plagued by frightening visions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The focus also shifts to her best friend, Simon (Kristian Ventura), who is stuck in the afterlife and busy digging up the past of Split River High. Their shared mission is to understand the mysterious deaths at the school and the cryptic message left by Mr. Martin (Josh Zucherman).
This season’s cast includes List, Ventura, Zuckerman, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Ci Hang Ma, Miles Elliot, and Milo Manheim. Their newest cast members for season three include Jennifer Tilly, Ari Dalbert, and Erika Swayze via The Hollywood Reporter.
Citing the fact that the second season increased its viewership compared to the first, the series was renewed for another season in March. The Hollywood Reporter said that Shauna Phelan, head of live-action scripted series and film for Awesomeness TV and Nickelodeon, released a statement upon the renewal: “We are so thrilled to bring School Spirits back to our devoted audiences for another season of masterful storytelling brought to life by Peyton List and the incredible cast.”
