A trailer has been released for the upcoming Kiefer Sutherland-led spy thriller Rabbit Hole. Sutherland has won two Emmy awards for his role as Jack Bauer in 24. He has also starred in Designated Survivor, The First Lady, and Phone Booth.
The Paramount+ series will premiere on March 26. The official trailer is available below.
“Nothing is what it seems when John Weir, master of corporate espionage, finds himself at the center of a shadowy conspiracy,” says Paramount+ about the series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “trailer sees Sutherland’s John threatening a security guard with a remote-detonated bomb and then being recruited to save the world — something the actor is familiar with after nine seasons as a counter-terrorist agent on the Fox series 24. This time, however, it’s amid a backdrop of the world of corporate espionage and global threats of technology.”
Sutherland also serves as an executive producer for the series, alongside writer and director duo John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, known for I Love You Phillip Morris and four-time Emmy winning romcom This Is Us. Charlie Gogolak (Focus, The Sinner), Suzan Bymel (Designated Survivor, Touch), and Hunt Baldwin (Longmire, The Closer) will also produce under Paramount Global’s CBS Studios.
In an interview with TV Insider, Sutherland said, “The movie that [showrunners John Requa and Glenn Ficarra] brought up that captured my imagination is Three Days of the Condor. An upper echelon [CIA analyst played by Robert Redford] goes out to get lunch, comes back and everybody’s dead. And then he’s being hunted. Rabbit Hole is such a well-rounded piece with humor, drama, and the thriller aspect.”
He said of his character: “At the start of it, he’s kind of bad, but what makes it right is that he’s doing it to [people who are] repulsive. Then, over time, he starts doing things because they are the right thing to do, as opposed to just simply being the right thing for him.”
Sutherland also spoke of possible love interest Hailey Winton, played by Meta Golding (Surrogates, Empire): “You start to understand that Weir says ‘Stay away,’ but that’s not how he’s behaving. He wants to be with her, so those are interesting things to play against.”
The eight-episode drama stars Charles Dance (The Imitation Game, Game of Thrones) as Dr. Ben Wilson, Rob Yang (Succession, The Americans) as Edward Homm, Enid Graham (Mare of Easttown, The Sinner) as Josephine “Jo” Madi, Jason Butler Harner (Ozark, Changeling) as Valence, and Walt Klink (The English, Arctic Circle) as The Intern.
Rabbit Hole will launch on March 26 with two episodes. The following episodes will be released every Sunday, exclusively on Paramount+, for subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.
