A reboot of the popular Nickelodeon series iCarly has been ordered at Paramount Plus, Variety reports. The original series starred Miranda Cosgrove (Drake & Josh), Jerry Trainer (Drake & Josh), Jennette McCurdy (Sam & Cat), and Nathan Kress (Into the Storm). The popular Nickelodeon program followed three best friends who created a successful webcast while navigating middle and high school.
The series was immensely popular among younger teens, running from 2007-2012 for six seasons. Cosgrove, Trainer, and Kress will revive their respective roles as Carly, Spencer, and Freddie in the upcoming reboot. Similarly to NBCUniversal’s Peacock launching sequel series to Saved by the Bell, the iCarly reboot will be revived on Paramount Plus rather than Nickelodeon as streamers continue to fight to expand their offerings.
The newly launched Paramount Plus was rebranded from the streaming service CBS All Access in September. The streamer already includes shows such as the drama Lioness and a docuseries entitled Behind the Music. Following their new addition, Paramount Plus will offer about 30,000 episodes and films on its platform.
