Spectrum Originals and Paramount Network have recently cast the lead roles and finalized the episode order for their upcoming show, Paradise Lost. Paradise Lost, formerly known as Heaven of Hell, is a Southern Gothic mystery created by Rhodes Fishburn (Blood & Oil). The show is about a psychiatrist that moves her family from California to Mississippi, her husband’s hometown, only to uncover shameful secrets that will change their lives forever. Paradise Lost will air on Spectrum before getting a linear release on Paramount Network.
Bridget Regan (Jane the Virgin, The Last Ship) will play Francis, the female lead. Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful) has been announced as the male lead of the series. He will play Francis’s husband. Further casting announcements for Paradise Lost include Shane McRae (Sneaky Pete, Still Alice), Barbara Hershey (Once Upon a Time), Nick Nolte (Warrior, Grace Point), Gail Bean (Snowfall), and Danielle Deadwyler (Gifted). The nature of their roles has not been released yet.
Paradise Lost is from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content. The show is a result of the content partnerships between Charter Communications, Spectrum’s parent company, and Viacom, the parent company of Paramount Network and Paramount Television.
Ten episodes have been ordered for the first season. Rhodes Fishburn will be the executive producer and co-showrunner with Arika Lisanna Mittman (Dexter). The other producers working on this project are David Kanter, Jeff Okin, and Romeo Tirone. The pilot episode is helmed by John Lee Hancock, the director of the Oscar nominated film, The Blind Side.
Production of Paradise Lost is expected to begin soon in Baton Rouge.
