The official trailer for the third season of Star Trek: Picard was released during an AFC championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals. This upcoming season will also mark the end of the series.
The Emmy award-winning show is a spinoff of 1987’s Star Trek: The Next Generation and 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. It stars four-time Emmy nominee Sir Patrick Stewart (Logan, American Dad!), who reprises his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, a retired admiral who enters the next chapter of his life while dealing with pain from the past, says Paramount+.
According to Deadline, the sci-fi series’ third season follows a desperate message from a long-lost friend that draws Starfleet legend Admiral Jean-Luc Picard into the most daring mission of his life, forcing him to recruit allies spanning generations old and new. This final adventure sets him on a collision course with the legacy of his past and explosive, new revelations that will alter the fate of the Federation forever.
The cast of the third season includes three-time Emmy nominee LeVar Burton (Blindspotting, Tom Swift), Michael Dorn (Star Trek franchise), Jonathan Frakes (Future-Worm!, The Astronauts), Gates McFadden (Labyrinth, Marker), Marina Sirtis (Young Justice, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes), Brent Spiner (Independence Day: Resurrection, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), Jeri Ryan (Dracula 2000, Down with Love), and Michelle Hurd (Blindspot, The Glades). The teaser also revealed newcomers Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey, Outlander), who aids Beverly Crusher’s medical efforts on worlds Starfleet has forgotten, and Todd Stashwick (The Air I Breathe, 12 Monkeys), who will appear in a recurring role as captain of the U.S.S. Titan, via Deadline.
Terry Matalas (12 Monkeys, MacGyver) serves as showrunner for the ten-episode season.
