According to Deadline, Paramount+ has just cast Bebe Neuwirth (Cheers, Madame Secretary) to reprise her original Frasier role as the titular character’s ex-wife, Lilith Sternin, for the upcoming sequel series. The show will depict her reunion with Kelsey Grammer’s (Jesus Revolutione, The Simpsons) Dr. Frasier Crane and his now young adult son, Freddy Crane, played by Jack Cutmore-Scott (Tenet, Dunkirk).
The upcoming Frasier reboot series follows Frasier as he moves away from Seattle and off to the Puritan City of Boston with unique challenges, new relationships (both good and bad), and some unfinished ambitions to finally cross off his list. As reported by Deadline, Lilith’s reunion with the Cranes will happen during Freddy’s birthday party and will see her squaring off against Frasier for Freddy’s affection in a “showdown for the ages.” So far, Neuwirth is the first confirmed original series cast member to accompany Grammer in the sequel show.
The cast of the Paramount+ Frasier includes the acting talents of Nicholas Lyndhurst (Goodnight Sweetheart, After You’ve Gone) as Alan, Toks Olagundoye (The Neighbors, Arcane) as Olivia, Jess Salguerio (Jupiter’s Legacy, Letterkenny) as Eve, and Anders Keith (Variations) as David. The multi-camera sitcom series comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Late Show with David Letterman) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien), who also serve as executive producers alongside Grammer, Tom Russo (Light as a Feather, The Game), and Jordan McMahon (You’re Not a Monster, Phat Tuesdays). James Burrows (Will & Grace, Taxi) is set to direct the first two episodes of the show.
