The new movie that was released December 2025, The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants, finally arrives on Paramount+ today, February 17, according to Deadline. The movie will hit all major markets in the US and Canada and international at a later date.
According to Deadline, The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants is the fourth installment to the Spongebob films. The movie’s plot takes off with the main characters traveling for their “biggest, yellow-est, most side-splittingly hilarious, all-new, can’t miss cinematic event ever.” Just like the first movie, Spongebob tries to prove he is not just a kid but a man by testing his bravery to Mr. Krabs. He does so by following the notorious Flying Dutchman which entails a comedic adventure, traveling to the darkest depths of the ocean where no fish has been before.
Deadline also the film is directed by Derek Drymon (Diggs Tailwagger, Santa’s Little Helper), and showcases the voices from the show such as Tom Kenny (Adventure time, Spongebob Squarepants) who plays Spongebob, Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption, The Penguin) who plays Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass (Heavy Metal, Invader Zim) who plays Squidward, Bill Fagerbakke (Coach, Under Wraps) who plays Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence (Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Ice Age) who plays Sandy, and Mr. Lawrence (Rocko’s Modern Life, Camp Lazlo) who plays Plankton. There is also supporting cast George Lopez (Rio, Blue Beetle), Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston (Barbie World, Princess Diana), Arturo Castro (Tron: Ares, Yes Day), Sherry Cola (Free Ride, Good trouble), and Regina Hall (Scary Movie, Girl’s Trip) and Mark Hammill (Star Wars, The Long Walk).
SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg (SpongeBob SquarePants, Order Up!). The story of the movie was written by Marc Ceccarelli (Carrot and Stick, The Patrick Star Show) & Kaz (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Pam Brady (1 Happy Family USA, Hamlet 2). The script is written by Brady and Matt Lieberman (Free Guy, Scoob!) and produced by Lisa Stewart (Novitate, Jericho), p.g.a., Brady and Aaron Dem (Transformers One, That Christmas), Ceccarelli, Vincent Waller (Happy Happy Joy Joy, Frozen Face Off), Pete Chiappetta (Weapons, Regretting You), Anthony Tittanegro (One Battle After Another, Regretting You) and Andrew Lary (The Running Man, Superman) serve as executive producers.
