After a series of meetings and negotiations, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will now be known as Skydance, according to Deadline. With this merger underway, there is simply no telling what lies in store for the two biggest media companies.
For those who don’t know, Paramount has been trying to settle a merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. Recently, Paramount was able to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery for $110+ billion. According to Deadline, CEO David Ellison issued this tweet regarding the merging of the two TV and film production giants. The post can be viewed below. Ellison’s Skydance was able to acquire Paramount back in August 2025, taking advantage of Paramount’s consumer brand, thus changing the name to “Paramount a Skydance Corporation.”
The process for the merger was not an easy feat, because the two large media companies had to face many hurdles. One such hurdle was an antitrust lawsuit by 12 state attorneys general along with the Writers Guild of America who called styled the action as an illegal monopoly. According to Deadline, the lawsuits was laid out in a five-year consent decree, where it required the separation of both Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery operations in several business areas. The lawsuit was also used to guard against one of the major studios from being dissolved.
With this new merger underway, this will be a brand new beginning for Skydance.
