The teaser was attached to the end of the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which shows the ongoing war between Fisk and the vigilante, in order to bring normality back to New York City. This special has the possibility to introduce new characters to which Frank has some relationship, such as a ghost version of Ben Russo aka Jigsaw, played by Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bones, Seventh Son), Castle’s renowned antagonist who was slained by him back in The Punisher’s finale.
According to mxdwn, the first time that fans have witnessed the appearance of Berthnal’s version of the violent anti-hero was back in the second season of the 2016 Daredevil series, in which he has a confrontation with Matt, played by Charlie Cox (Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Defenders). He also made a comeback within the first season of Born Again, in which he was captured by Wilson Fisk’s, played by Vincent D’Onofrio (Echo, Hawkeye) forces but ultimately escaped.
The grim atmosphere for which the character is renowned will undoubtedly be there in the special, but the story will take a new turn from the mafia boss to a personal one. While fans await on further information on the special to arrive, they can rewatch Joe’s performance on Daredevil and The Punisher series which are available to stream on Disney+.
