‘Palm Royale’ Starring Kristen Wiig On AppleTV+ Renewed For A Second Season

Fans of the Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids) AppleTV+ series Palm Royale are in for a treat. According to Deadline, the high society comedy has been renewed for a second season. The series follows the initial season that starred Wiig alongside a cast of many talented faces, who viewers hope to see return.

Palm Royale is a series loosely based on the novel titled Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by the author Juliet McDaniel. The Apple Studios produced show centers around Maxine Simmons, played by Wiig. It then follows as she breaks into and attempts to navigate the high society of Palm Beach. As Maxine carries herself through each trial and tribulation, decked out in fabulous clothing and jewelry, the audience is left with the concept of staying true to yourself and always questioning how much one should give up in order to obtain what another has.

The executive producer of the show, actor Laura Dern (Little Women, Marriage Story), who also stars in the series alongside Wiig expressed her excitement around the series being renewed. “We are so thrilled to hear about Season 2,” Dern said to Deadline “Jayme and I [with Jaywalker Pictures] have been dreaming up this project for so long in hopes that audiences would have delicious fun with the radical ride that is the world of Palm Royale. We all can’t wait to get started.”

Wiig also expressed her thoughts on the character of Maxine, commenting on her character and giving fans peek into how she will be carried across future seasons. She says, “Maxine is very ambitious and will stop at nothing to get what she wants but that twist of being so sunny and positive while she is doing it, makes you think, ‘Wait I think I like her. We wanted to make her likable even though she was doing things that were not that likable.”

The cast of season one also includes Dern, Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Ricky Martin (American Crime Story), Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama, Yellowstone), Leslie Bibb (Iron Man, The Lost Husband) Amber Chardae Robinson (Always a Bridesmaid, Loot), Mindy Cohn (The Facts of Life), Julia Duffy (Newhart) and Kaia Gerber (Bottoms). Who is returning to Palm Royale is still a mystery and there is yet to be any announcement regarding the start of production.
