Page Boy Productions Announces The TV Adaptation Of Video Game ‘Beyond: Two Souls’

According to a Deadline article, the popular video game Beyond: Two Souls will soon be turned into a TV adaptation by Elliot Page’s (Close To You, There’s Something in The Water) PageBoy Productions. The article reveals how the company was able to acquire the rights to the video game from the creator Quantic Dream S.A.S.

According to Quantic Dream’s official site, the company is a “French video game developer based in Paris and Montreal, founded by David Cage in 1997.” They developed the video game, which was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. In 2013, the game premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Fans and audiences were astounded by the cinematic choices that were made for the game.

Deadline notes that the show is still in the early planning stages but will follow the story of the main character, Jodie Holmes, who is described as “a young woman with extraordinary supernatural abilities who becomes entangled in a web of government conspiracies and otherworldly forces. Connected to a mysterious entity named Aiden, Jodie must navigate both military exploitation and otherworldly threats while discovering the true nature of her powers.” The game included stars such as Willem Dafoe (The Legend of Ochi, Nosferatu), who co-starred with Page. Both were praised at the 2013 film festival for their performances.

Page said in an interview with Deadline that this was his career’s most challenging acting experience. He says the cast was set on creating a unique vision for the characters and their journeys. PageBoy’s Head of Development and Production, Matt Jordan Smith, said the TV adaptation “will honor the game’s legacy while inviting fresh perspectives.

Additionally, David Cage, the Quantic Dream writer and director, said, “I was blown away by his acting performance in the game, and I couldn’t think of anyone else to tell this story with the same passion on another medium. Beyond: Two Souls is a very special game for millions of players around the world who were moved by the story of Jodie and Aiden, and their journey in life and beyond. I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.” The film dates have not been released yet.
