Oxygen is adding four new original shows, Deadline reports. The news was announced shortly after the network ordered Strut, a new original series about transgender models. The modeling agency called Slay Model Management is known as the first exclusively transgender modeling agency. Strut comes from executive producer Whoopi Goldberg and is scheduled to premiere this year.
The new shows revealed recently by the Oxygen network include Three Days To Live, which is set to expand Oxygen’s true-crime programming block that runs during the weekends. The docu-series focuses on the critical 72 hours after someone is kidnapped. Then there’s a millennial competition series titled Last Squad Standing and The Battle Of The Ex Besties, which will examine how far people will go to defend their friendships. Unprotected is a docu-comedy that features a family raising two teenagers under extremely different conditions.
In Last Squad Standing, three group of friends are placed in a house to compete against each other through a series of competitive tasks. The games are designed to show just how tight and meaningful their friendships are. Whenever a team loses or wins a challenge, they have kick someone off of their team. The series is produced by Rob LaPlante, Jeff Spangler, and Trish Gold.
The Battle of The Ex Besties will also delve into the tight-knit bonds between best friends. In the series, ex BFFs (Best Friends Forever) are secretly paired together to participate in challenges that will definitely put forgiving to the test. Will two former friends win the grand prize and revive their relationship? The Battle of The Ex Besties is executive produced by Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan, Rick de Oliveira, Haylee Vance and Beth Greenwald.
Then there’s Unprotected, a half-hour doc-comedy that follows the Cantarella Family. The Cantarellas were a former crime family who left the witness protection program to settle into a suburban lifestyle and raise two teeaners in the twon of Scottsdale, AZ. Throughout the season, viewers will see the family adapting to unfamiliar surroundings while trying move past their old criminal habits. At the same time they attempt to stay true to who they are. Unprotected is executive produced by Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Kevin Healey and Eric Kutner.
Lastly, Three Days To Live shows stylized and engaging re-enactments where viewers will see everything that unfolds 72 hours after someone is abducted. The reason why it is critical to find someone within three days (after they are kidnapped) is because after 72 hours, they almost never return home. The series will show graphic recreations of terrifying events with detectives racing against the clock to find a missing person, solve the mystery, and expose the kidnapper. Three Days To Live is executive produced by Joke Fincioen, Biagio Messina and Zak Weisfeld serving as Executive Producers.
Oxygen’s four series will join the network’s current unscripted original programming.
