Outer Banks “follows a group of teens known as the Pogues, coming of age in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Season 3 picks up with the Pogues as they’re washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home, after they’ve found (and lost) a golden treasure and fled their hometown,” says Deadline. The Pogues include John B, played by Chase Stokes (Tell Me Your Secrets, Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets), Madison Bailey (Black Lightning, Creepshow) as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss (Do Revenge, Revolution) as Pope, and Rudy Pankow (Uncharted, Chocolate Lizards) as JJ. Madelyn Cline (Boy Erased, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) stars as Sarah, a ‘Kook princess’ turned Pogue. The season two finale ended with the Pogues looking for and ultimately losing the esteemed Cross of Santo Domingo. It also revealed the fate of John B’s dad, whose death was the main reason John B and his friends went looking for treasure. Fans of Outer Banks are anxious to see if Big John is really alive, and if season three will bring a wholesome father and son reunion.
Josh Pate and Jonas Pate, who both worked on Surface and Deceiver, along with Shannon Burke (Abandon, Syriana) serve as the creators, executive producers, and writers of the show. Per Deadline, the showrunners have teased that the Pogues’ “adventures in the first two seasons were merely the prelude to the granddaddy of all treasure hunts.”
The show was renewed for another ten episodes in 2021. Since then, Netflix has released a trailer and several images to promote the series. You can see the photos for the third installment here.
Outer Banks season three will air on February 23rd, only on Netflix. The official trailer is available below.
