According to Deadline, filming on the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Outer Banks has continued despite an alleged altercation involving co-creator and executive producer Jonas Pate (Surface, Good Behavior). Multiple sources reported that Pate, who is currently directing episodes in Dubrovnik, Croatia, allegedly grabbed and shook a production assistant during a confrontation that took place several days ago.
As reported by TMZ, the incident reportedly escalated to the point where Outer Banks star Chase Stokes who portrays John B. Routledge intervened to de-escalate the situation. Co-star Madelyn Cline (Knives Out 2, Glass Onion), who plays Sarah Cameron, also stepped in to help calm tensions between Pate and the crew member.
As Stated by Deadline, production on Outer Banks has not been disrupted following the incident. Pate, who co-created the hit adventure drama alongside his twin brother Josh Pate (Surface, Good Behavior) and Shannon Burke (Syriana, The Red Sea Diving Resort), continues to direct as planned. The filmmaker typically oversees six of the 10 episodes each season. Netflix has declined to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
Per Deadline, Outer Banks was renewed for its fifth and final season in November 2024, ahead of the release of Season Four, Part Two. The previous season ended with the Pogues in Morocco, where their treasure hunt took a tragic turn with the loss of one of their own. The series, known for its blend of teen adventure, mystery, and romance, has remained one of Netflix’s most-watched original dramas since its debut in 2020.
