The new season of Only Murders in the Building is coming this Tuesday on August 8th and it looks like events will be taking place in a theater. According to ET, the first two episodes of the season will be released first and ET was given a first look at what is to come in the second episode of the upcoming season.
In the sneak peek, Mabel Mora played by Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place), Charles-Haden Savage played by Steve Martin (Father of the Bride), and Oliver Putnam played by Martin Short (The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause) are back to their podcast about true-crime and are breaking down the very surprising death of Paul Rudd’s (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) character Ben Glenroy. Fans will remember Ben as the lead of Oliver’s hit Broadway show that was a massive directorial success return.
Within the exclusive clip, Mabel, Oliver, and Charles-Haden show up to Ben’s funeral and they unexpectedly realize that they have been bumped down on the guest list and are sectioned in “Overflow 3,” which is basically a basement room with few other attendees where they watched the funeral that is taking place upstairs through a live stream. Oliver responds to the hilarious seating arrangement by saying, “I was sent here by mistake. I should be upstairs, in the action with beloved friends, family and showbiz power players, not this pack of nobodies.”
The suspected murderers for Ben’s death are among his fellow castmates and newcomers to the show including the aging actress Loretta Durkin played by Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), a social media influencer Kimber played by Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), another investigator and alluded love interest to Mabel played by Jesse Williams (The Cabin in the Woods), and Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) as a character that is still unknown.
