On My Block, the inner city-set comedy series from Netflix, has been renewed for its fourth and final season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lauren Iungerich (Awkward), co-creator of the series, is once again returning to helm the project.
On My Block shows the experience high school students in the fictional Freeridge, California, as they navigate adolescent struggles, particularly ones unique to the inner city, such as gang culture, according to Variety.
The new season will once again star Sierra Capri (American Skin), Jason Genao (The Get Down, Logan), Brett Gray (When They See Us), Diego Tinoco (Teen Wolf), Jessica Marie Garcia (Liv and Maddie) and Julio Macias (Selena: The Series), according to Variety. In July 2019, Capri, Genao, Gray, Tinoco and Garcia all negotiated for significant pay raises, which would have paid them $1.05 million, had the series made it to a fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to Iungerich, the other two series co-creators, Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft, as well as Jamie Dooner (Awkward), will executive produce, according to Deadline.
On My Block is one of many Netflix series recently given final season orders, including The Kominsky Method, Dead to Me, and Atypical.
