A new series, Olympus, about the world of humans, Gods and monsters is coming to Syfy.
Syfy along with Reunion Pictures and Great Point Media announced the series would take viewers into a world full of action. The 13-part one-hour series will premiere in 2015.
Attached to the project are writer Nick Willing (Tinman, Alice, Neverland) and executive producer Robert Halmi Sr. (Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, The Odyssey, Gulliver’s Travels).
The series will center on how a few brave men and women rid the world of Gods and sent them to the realm of the unconscious, the Underworld or Kingdom of Hades. It follows the protagonist as he sets out on a journey of betrayal, love, disappointment, empowerment and exile. This forever changes his fresh-faced, raw beginnings and he becomes a ruthless leader of men. He will be a match for the Gods themselves.
“Olympus is a fantastic blend of action, intense thrills, creatures and great story telling. It will feature characters from mythology in a way never before imagined,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Programming, Syfy. “It’s an excellent complement to our roster of programming and we can’t wait to share the adventures of Hero with the Syfy audience.”
Reunion Pictures and Olympus TV (London) Limited produce the series. Production on the series will begin this summer in Vancouver and London. Willing wrote and will direct the first episode. Executive producers include Robert Halmi Sr.; Robert Halmi Jr.; Jim Reeve, Matthew O’Conner and Lisa Richardson.
“I’m thrilled that the team of Willing, O’Connor and Halmi are together on another exciting Syfy project,” Halmi Sr. said. “With the success of Tinman, Neverland and Alice, we are confident that this will be another epic adventure for television.”
