Olivia Munn is working on a series for The CW.
A series about a female sportscaster in the 1970’s is being developing by the network with Munn as executive producer, according to Variety. The untitled project is set in 1974 and follows a young journalist who gets hired by a New York news chief as a publicity stunt as the first female on-air sports reporter.
The journalist will navigate gender issues on-air and behind the scenes during a time where women weren’t allowed in the press box. Munn used to be a sideline reporter so she will likely draw on some of her own experience for the series.
It comes from writer Ted Humphrey (“The Good Wife”), with Munn as executive prodcuer along with Stacia Peters, who worked in production on HBO’s “The Newsroom,” on which Munn starred for a time.
This is Munn’s first experience producing though she has acted in a variety of things including New Girl and Magic Mike.
