In a recently released piece of concept art for the upcoming Disney Plus show Obi-Wan Kenobi, fans see the titular character played by Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) face off against the domineering Darth Vader played by Hayden Christensen (Jumper, Shattered Glass) in an epic lightsaber duel.
While no other footage was released with this, fans still took to Twitter to express their awe and excitement at the two characters meeting once again. The first time these characters fought was in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith when Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan fought on the lava ridden planet of Mustafar. That fight would end in Anakin losing and sustaining the very wounds that would lead him to be placed in the iconic Vader suit. The second and final time these two fought was in Star Wars: A New Hope when Vader killed Obi-Wan.

“To have another swing at each other might be quite satisfying,” McGregor said in an interview with Variety.
The series is set ten years after their first fight, so it will be before the events of A New Hope, and LucasFilm describes this time in Obi-Wan’s life as “dark” so fans are gearing up to see a new side to this character.
“We couldn’t tell the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi without addressing Anakin or Vader,” says director Deborah Chow in the same interview.
Other pieces of art have been released as well showing pictures of Vader and of the older, more disgruntled looking Obi-Wan traversing the deserts of what is possibly Tatooine: the home world of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker. The images also show sneak peaks at some of the settings for the show, such as a dystopian city and crime ridden desert town.
This announcement is apart of the Disney Plus Day celebration, and the show itself will premiere sometime in 2022.
