On the second day of New York Comic Con, Prime Video returned to the Javtis Convention Center to promote its upcoming crime thriller, Cross. Based on the character from James Patterson (1st to Die, The Murder Inn), Cross follows Metro PD homicide detective and forensic psychologist, Alex Cross, as he protects the people of Washington D.C. from the cruelest and most elusive serial killers. In this iteration, Aldis Hodge (Black Adam, City on a Hill) stars as the gallant protector, who after a tragic loss, must battle a sinister killer all while haunted by something from him from his past.
Today’s panel hosted by MSNBC’s Joy Reid (The Reid Out) included showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins (Burn Notice, Hand of God), Hodge, and other cast members Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam, The Blacklist) Isaiah Mustafa (It Chapter Two, Shadowhunters), Alona Tal (SEAL Team, Broke City) and Samantha Walkes (The Kings of Napa, Deadly Estate). The cast discussed the series and released an exclusive clip. View the clip below.
In the clip, Cross interrogates a murder suspect, showcasing his vast intellect and ability to crack a suspect’s psyche.
Eggold plays the debonair socialite Ed Ramsey, who has a sinister secret. Tal is FBI special agent Kayla Craig, who has a thing for Cross. Mustafa plays John Sampson, Cross’s best friend and partner on the force. Walkes plays Elle, Cross’s childhood friend and current love interest. Joining the main cast are Juanita Jennings (Janky Promoters, Meet the Browns), Caleb Elijah (True Story, ReVerso), Eloise Mumford (Fifty Shades of Grey, The Right Stuff), Johnny Ray Gill (Underground, Brain Dead), Melody Hurd (Fatherhood, Them), and Jennifer Wigmore (Y: The Last Man, Dream Scenario).
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television, Cross was first announced in 2020, before Hodge was attached to star and executive produce. The series received a second-season order at Prime Video’s first upfront presentation. Watkins produces via his Blue Monday Productions banner. Sam Ernst (Daredevil, Crisis), Jim Dunn (Carnival Row, Haven), and Craig Siebels (The Gifted, Blood & Treasure) also executive produce, with Patterson, Bill Robinson (Instinct, Zoo), and Patrick Santa executive producing for James Patterson Entertainment. David Ellison (Reacher, Foundation), Dana Goldberg (The Tomorrow War, Star Trek Beyond), and Bill Bost (World War Z, Bill Bost) are executive producing for Skydance Television.
The series premieres on Prime Video on Thursday, November 14.
