The NYCC 2024 panel of HBO’s upcoming original drama series Dune: Prophecy was filled with surprises and fun interactions between the fans, cast and crew. There was an exclusive first look at the official trailer of the series, alongside the announcement of the release date, which is on Nov. 17.
In the first part of the panel, the audience was ecstatic yet impressed by the trailer the panelist showed. The trailer, embedded below, was filled with accurate representations of various book scenes, which the fans of the novels will absolutely adore, and a lot of plot twists, as the cast delivered exceptional performances. From this first look, it seems like this series will be a success.
In the second part of the panel, the cast and crew entered the stage, which included Alison Schapker (Lost, Alias), who developed the series for HBO; Chloe Lea (Scott & Bailey, Katy), who will portray Lila, the youngest student of Sisterhood School, Emily Watson (Corpse Bride, Chernobyl), who will portray Valya Harkonnen, Jessica Barden (The End Of The F***ing World, Scarborough), who will portray Young Valya Harkonnen, Jordan Goldberg (Westworld, Inception), who is the executive producer of the series, Josh Heuston (Heartbreak High, Dive Club), who will portray Constantine Corrino, Olivia Williams (The Nevers, The Crown), who will portray Tula Harkonnen, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The Colony, The Bridge), who will portray Princess Ynez Corrino and Travis Fimmel (Warcraft, Vikings), who will portray Desmond Hart. The audience looked excited and eager to know more as they kept laughing at Barden and Fimmel’s jokes with the cast.
When asked how they filmed the scenes in the trailer, the cast shared that “most scenes were filmed in the desert or water for real.” Schapker confirmed that the show will have six episodes in total, as she stated, “You can expect the show going behind the mystique of the movies. One great thing is to see how they operate, and the beginning of the new family.”
If anyone is interested in knowing more about Dune: Prophecy, the official logline from the press release states that, “From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert (Dune: Part One, Dune: Part Two), and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”
As stated beforehand, Dune: Prophecy will be available to stream on HBO and Max on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.
