Both Nine Perfect Strangers and Only Murders in the Building have received their premiere dates at Hulu. The Nicole Kidman-led (Big Little Lies) led drama Nine Perfect Strangers will premiere on August 18, while the comedy murder mystery Only Murders in the Building will debut on August 31, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
A star studded cast, Nine Perfect Strangers features Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals), Regina Hall (Support the Girls), Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man), Samara Weaving (Picnic at Hanging Rock), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), Asher Keddie (Stateless), Grace Van Patten (Tramps), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), and Tiffany Boone (Hunters). The limited series will consist of eight episodes.
Nine Perfect Strangers is helmed by David E. Kelly (Big Little Lies, The Undoing), a frequent collaborator of Kidman’s. They both will also executive produce. Nine Perfect Strangers is an adaption of the novel under the same name written by Liane Moriarty (The Husband’s Secret). A bestseller, the story details nine strangers meeting at a wellness center run by Kidman’s character, Masha. This is the second work of Moriarty’s that Kelly has adapted, as he also made Moriarty’s novel Big Little Lies into the smash hit at HBO starring Kidman.
Only Murders in the Building also announced on Tuesday that its ten episode first season would be premiering on Hulu August 31. The series stars comedy duo Steve Martin (It’s Complicated) and Martin Short (The Morning Show) in addition to Selena Gomez (13 Reasons Why). The three portray tenants living in a New York apartment building, and when a man in the complex dies they decide to investigate his death. What they uncover is much more than they bargained for.
The series released its first teaser trailer today announcing the premiere date. Martin promoted the show on his Twitter, writing: “This is more than a 30 second teaser trailer for “Only Murders in the Building.” It’s the entire episode (we lost a lot in editing).”
