

According to Variety, night one of The Creative Arts Emmys at the Peacock Theatre in downtown L.A. has concluded with HBO Max’s The Penguin scoring a total of eight wins and Apple TV+’s The Studio securing the most wins of all at nine awards.
The Wrap reported that Apple TV overall had a great night, as they were able to pull in a total of 15 wins across different titles. Their standout performer was their hit series Severance, which was nominated for a total of 27 categories. Of those nominations, the show secured six awards. Severance’s Merritt Wever (Signs, Marriage Story) was the recipient of a Guest Actress in a Drama Award.
The press release by the Television Academy also mentions that the awards claimed by The Studio are for Guest Actor in a Comedy series, which went to Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the Middle), giving him his seventh Emmy of his career; Contemporary Costumes, Casting for a Comedy Series, Picture Editing for a Single Camera comedy, Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama, Music Supervision, and Cinematography for a Series. The Penguin was able to wobble away with awards in Prosthetic Makeup and Visual Effects, Contemporary Makeup, Contemporary Costumes for a limited or anthology series or movie, Contemporary Hairstyling, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing for a limited or anthology series, and Music Composition.
The press release also mentions Netflix’s Arcane and Love, Death, and Robots as big winners for the night. Arcane brought home awards for Animated Program, Sound Editing for an Animated Program, and two juried awards for Individual Achievement in Animation. Love, Death, and Robots won four juried awards for Individual Achievement in Animation. Disney+’s Andor also went home with some accolades, winning honors for fantasy/sci-fi costumes; production design for a narrative period or fantasy program (one hour or more); picture editing for a drama series; and special visual effects in a season or a movie.
