Oscar-winning Big Little Lies actress Nicole Kidman (The Northman, Being the Ricardos) has joined the latest Taylor Sheridan (Pure Grit, 1883) drama after becoming the latest cast member to be added to the new show Lioness, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show is based on a real-life CIA program that will follow Cruz Manuelos, played by Laysla de Oliveira (Locke & Key, Needle in a Timestack), who is described as “a passionate but rough-around-the-edges young Marine who has been recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe Saldaña (Avatar: The Way of Water, From Scratch) will play Joe, the Lioness program’s station chief. She is tasked with her female undercover operatives’ training, management, and leadership. Kidman will be playing Kaitlyn Meade, the CIA’s senior supervisor who has had a long career playing the politics game. Meade must juggle the trappings of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community, a wife who longs for the attention she can’t even give, and a mentor to someone coming close to the same rocky road she’s found herself on.
Kidman will also serve as an executive producer of the show alongside Sheridan, David C. Glasser (Yellowstone, The Last Cowboy), Saldaña, Ron Burkle (Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King), Bob Yari (Yellowstone, 1883), David Hutkin (Kickback, Tulsa King), Jill Wagner (A Merry Christmas Wish, Hearts of Winter), Geyer Kosinski (Redeeming Love, Goliath), Michael Malone (Foundation, Daybreak), and John Hillcoat (George & Tammy, Triple 9).
