Get excited! Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, The Hours) disclosed more details about a potential third season of the HBO hit series Big Little Lies. According to CNN Entertainment, Kidman sat with Entertainment Tonight Sunday to discuss season three.
“We are always cooking things up,” said Kidman, as per CNN Entertainment. She added, “We’ve got a timeline for it now.”
CNN Entertainment also noted that Kidman continued, saying: “We are obviously all devastated at the loss of Jean-Marc Vallée. That made us go, ‘Can we move forward?’ But Reese [Witherspoon] and I, and all of the other women, have decided, yes we can.”
Director Jean-Marc Vallée (Wild, Café de Flore) worked on the series before he passed away in 2021
Kidman, who serves as an executive producer on Big Little Lies alongside another star on the series, Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Wild), also sat down with Variety and revealed that she and Witherspoon are “texting every day” about bringing season three to life.
“We can’t say anything more,” said Kidman, as per Variety. “We’ve got to start keeping our mouths shut … We’ve got to button it.”
During an interview on the Golden Globes red carpet, Witherspoon recently confirmed that season three of Big Little Lies is on the horizon. She stated to Variety that: “We are working on it.”
Big Little Lies has won eight impressive Emmys for its last two seasons. The series follows a group of women hailing from California and involves a murder.
Other stars in the series include Zoë Kravitz (The Batman, Divergent), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation, Step Brothers), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu), Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!, The Devil Wears Prada), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Blue Velvet), Shailene Woodley (Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars) and Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, The Legend of Tarzan).
This is not the only project Kidman is pursuing; she is also promoting a Prime Video series entitled Expats, which chronicles the lives of expatriates in Hong Kong.
“I read the book, my sister gave it to me to read, and I knew it would make an amazing film,” said Kidman about Expats as per CNN Entertainment. “But it was so dense I thought a mini-series would work better. And it was the right cast.”
