Deadline reports that Nicole Kidman (Aquaman, Batman Forever), Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Midsommar), Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type, One Life to Live), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donavon, Scream), Dakota Fanning (Coraline, Uptown Girls), and Eve Hewson (The Nick, Bridge of Spies) are in talks to star in Netflix’s limited series The Perfect Couple. It will be executive produced and directed by Susanne Bier (Bird Box, Serena) and comes from Shawn Levy’s (Deadpool 3, The Adam Project) 21 Laps and Gail Berman’s (The Addams Family, Elvis) The Jackal Group. The series was previously at Fox and was announced to have moved to Netflix last August.
The Perfect Couple is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Elin Hilderbrand (The Five Star Weekend, Barefoot), which was published in 2018. The series will be a six-episode murder mystery that follows Celeste Otis, a Nantucket native, about to marry the perfect man from the wealthiest family in the area on the Fourth of July. However, everyone at the party becomes a suspect in a murder on the day of the wedding when a dead body is found in the harbor.
Bier has previously worked with Kidman on the HBO crime drama The Undoing, and with Fanning in The First Lady. Kidman recently won Emmys for her work on HBO’s Big Little Lies and has also starred in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers and Sundance TV’s Top of the Lake.
Fahy recently won won a SAG Ensemble Award for the second season of HBO’s Mike White (School of Rock, Enloghtened) series, The White Lotus. Hewson and Reynor both starred in John Carney’s (Once, Begin Again) musical drama Flora and Son. Reynor also stars Prime Video’s The Peripheral.
