Hey Arnold!, the classic cartoon from the 90s, is returning to the small screen next year.
As part of their 25th anniversary celebration, Nickelodeon is creating a Hey Arnold! TV movie reboot. And today, Nickelodeon revealed the movie will be titled Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie and will feature most of the voice talents of the original actors.
Hey Arnold! was a hit series that ran on Nickelodeon from 1996 to 2004. Many 90s kids identify the cartoon as an icon of the decade. The movie will pick up right where the series ended in 2004 and will resolve unanswered questions, such as where Arnold’s missing parents are.
Chris Viscardi, Senior Vice President of content development for Nickelodeon Franchise Properties told Variety, “We’re incredibly fortunate to work with these talented voice actors who brought to life one of the most celebrated cartoons in Nickelodeon’s history. The voice cast is an essential piece to the Hey Arnold! universe and we’re excited for a new generation of fans to hear these characters in a new TV movie.”
Returning original cast members include Anndi McAfee as Phoebe, Justin Shenkarow as Harold, Olivia Hack as Rhonda, Nika Futterman as Olga, Dan Butler as Mr. Simmons, Antoinette Stella as Stella, Carlos Alazraqui as Eduardo, Dom Irrera as Ernie, Maurice LaMarche as Bob Pataki, Kath Soucie as Miriam, Danielle Judovits as Big Patty, Danny Cooksey as Stoop Kid, Jim Belushi as Coach Wittenberg, and Craig Bartlett as Miles.
Since many of the kid actors from the original series have, well, gotten older in the last 12 years, the movie will also introduce the voice talents of Mason Vale Cotton as Arnold, Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores Jr. as Gerald, Gavin Lewis as Eugene, Jet Jurgensmeyer as Stinky, Aiden Lewandowski as Sid, Laya Hayes as Nadine, Nicolas Cantu as Curly, Wally Wingert as Oskar and Stephen Stanton as Pigeon Man.
Never fear, though, Lane Toran and Jamil Smith, who were the original voices of Arnol and Gerald respectively, will be a part of the movie just as different characters.
One other voice the movie will introduce is that of Alfred Molina who joins the movie as the villain Lasombra, a river pirate who operates a secret compound in the jungles of San Lorenzo.
There is no premiere date for Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, but it will air on Nickelodeon sometime in 2017.
