The Patrick Star Show, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series, has been renewed for season two, according to Deadline. The show has received an early renewal as it is currently in the middle of its 26-episode first season.
The show’s second season will also be 26 episodes, Deadline reports. The show portrays a younger version of the beloved SpongeBob SquarePants character, Patrick Star, who is voiced by Bill Fagerbakke (Jennifer’s Body). The series show Star living at home with his family, where he hosts his own variety show for his neighborhood.
Claudia Spinelli, SVP of Animation for Big Kids, the show’s developer, released a statement on The Patrick Star Show’s renewal.
“This next season of The Patrick Star Show will embark upon even more imaginative, colorful and hilarious adventures, diving deeper into the Star family’s daily life and escapades,” Spinelli said. “For over 20 years, the beloved Patrick Star has provided humor to fans around the world, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.”
The Patrick Star Show is the second SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series produced by Nickelodeon Animation. The other is Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, which is a prequel to the main SpongeBob series that is a Paramount+ original.
The Patrick Star Show stars Fagerbakke, the voice of Patrick Star since SpongeBob SquarePants’ inception in 1999, along with Tom Wilson (Back To The Future), who plays Cecil Star; Cree Summer (Clifford The Big Red Dog), who plays Bunny Star; Jill Talley (Sky High), who plays Squidina Star; and Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), who plays GrandPat. All are slated to return for season two, according to Deadline, as well as cast members from the original SpongeBob SquarePants series.
Marc Ceccarelli (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Vincent Waller (The Ren & Stimpy Show) are executive producers for the series. Kelley Gardner, VP of Current Series, Animation for Nickelodeon, oversees production.
