According to CNN, Nick Cannon (Drumline) remains on The Masked Singer after apologizing for his recent anti-Semitic comments. These comments got him fired from his improv show Wild ‘N Out’ which was run by ViacomCBS, a company Cannon had been with for decades now. He has since apologized for his remarks.
“When we were made aware of Nick Cannon’s interview with Richard Griffin on YouTube, we immediately began a dialogue with Nick,” Fox said via CNN. “He is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate. This was important for us to observe. Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends.”
These comments were made on an episode of Cannon’s Class podcast, in which Cannon was joined by hip-hop star Professor Griff, or Richard Griffin. The two discussed anti-Semitic conspiracies, that Griff had previously made comments regarding that got him briefly kicked out of rap group Public Enemy. In the podcast that has since been removed, Cannon said that Griff was “speaking facts,” that Jewish people controlled the media, likening it to the power of the Rothschild family, banking scions who have long been targets of; according to CNN.
Cannon released a series of tweets discussing his regrettable actions between Monday and Thursday, apologizing towards the Jewish community. In an effort to learn, Cannon said “In today’s conversation about anti-racism and social justice, I think we all including myself must continue educating one another &embrace uncomfortable conversations it’s the only way we ALL get better.” Cannon also shared facebook post titled Truth and Reconciliation, in which he aims to get full ownership of Wild N’ Out brand.
