Nick at Nite original, Instant Mom, has been picked up for a third season ahead of its second season premiere.
The series is due to return October 2, but Nick at Nite has just reported an early renewal.
The series features nineties starlet, Tia Mowry-Hardrict (the co-star alongside her sister, Tamara, in the sitcom Sister, Sister) as a former-party girl turned step-mom of three. While Nick at Nite has primarily been the place to watch reruns of popular comedies, recently the network has found success in original programming, like See Dad Run and Instant Mom.
Nineties favorite revivals have become somewhat of a trend lately. Full House is in talks to see the small screen again, and the Boy Meets World reboot, Girl Meets World, has done well to reach twenty-first century audiences in its first season. Although Instant Mom differs from these reboots in that it only stars a fan-favorite from the nineties, the show’s renewal is another example of nineties nostalgia sweeping over popular culture.
If anything, Instant Mom proves that Nick at Nite is not only a place to relive the old but is also a spot to fall in love with the new.
