According to Deadline, Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, The Menu) joins the cast of the HBO Max Harry Potter series as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. Lockhart comes to Hogwarts in Harry’s second year as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He is one of the main key characters in the second book of the franchise titled Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, which will be the source material for the second season.
As per Deadline, Greenlighted in May, Season 2 of Harry Potter is scheduled to begin filming this fall. It will air on HBO and be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max. The character of Professor Gilderoy Lockhart is known in the wizarding world for his many historic deeds. He is later revealed to be a fraud who has faked his way to the top by taking credit for others and erasing parts of their memories. Kenneth Branagh (Murder on the Orient Express, A Haunting in Venice) previously played Lockhart in the 2002 Chamber of Secrets film.
Deadline reports the HBO Max Harry P0tter series follows an orphaned boy who discovers on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard, enrolls at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, makes lifelong friends, and begins facing a dark, hidden threat tied to his past.
According to Deadline, Hoult joins the ever-expanding cast, which includes Dominic McLaughlin (Grow, Gifted) as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Full-Cast Edition,Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Full-Cast Edition) as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout (Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic) as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow (Terms of Endearment, The World According to Garp) as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (Me Before You, Gangs of London) as Minerva McGonagall, Warwick Davis (From Leicester to Hollywood, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire) as Professor Filius Flitwick and many others.
