We are less than a week away from the Unbreakable Kimmy Shmidt season 2 premiere, and Netflix is teasing us with all the things we can look forward to in the new season.
This weekend, Netflix released a sneak peek at the upcoming season featuring Anna Camp’s (Pitch Perfect, True Blood) character, New York housewife Deirdre Robespierre.
Back in January when Netflix released images of the upcoming new season, we saw Anna Camp and Jane Krakowski smiling and looking friendly on a Central Park bench. They may have looked like besties in the first look at the second season, but in the latest sneak peek, the smiles accompany underhanded insults.
It looks like Jacqueline Voorhees (Krakowski) has a knack for finding venomous relationships to fill her life with. In season one, she quit her unhappy marriage and divorced her husband, but it looks like she has already found someone to fill the void of less-than-healthy relationships. As Deirdre tells Jacqueline in the clip, “I have a degree in political science from Princeton, and all that wasted mental energy has to go somewhere.”
When news of Camp’s casting in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was released, nothing was known about her character. Now we can see she will play what can be best described as a foil to Jacqueline.
As previously reported, season two will show Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) dealing with deeper emotional and life issues, like getting a job at a year-round Christmas store, which seems like the perfect job for the ever cheerful Kimmy. Titus will pursue a serious relationship, and Jacqueline will attempt to be more independent now that she is divorced.
Fred Armisen, Jeff Goldblum, David Cross, Zosia Mamet, and series co-creator Tina Fey are also set to make guest appearance in season two of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
The new season drops on Friday, April 15 only on Netflix.
